ENBI components

ENBI is organised as a Thematic Network, which implies that it will not undertake research projects. Its main objetive is to bring together the existing European expertise in biodiversity information and biodiversity informatics. ENBI acts as the platform to identify issues of common concern that need an approach at the European level, to promote or undertake feasibility studies in priority areas, and to share and disseminate (new) expertise and information at a European scale.

ENBI's activities and objectives can be grouped into four main clusters. Each cluster accommodates several work packages all with a specific theme. The deliverables of ENBI in general have the format of reports, web services, and established expert platforms. The work plan of ENBI is summarized in the following diagram:

Cluster I - Co-ordination activities Cluster II - Maintenance and enhancement of databases Cluster III - Data integration, interoperability, and analysis Cluster IV - Products and e-services WP 1: Co-ordination & continuity WP 2: ENBI Forums WP 3: ENBI Dissemination WP 7: Observational data WP 11: Multilingüal access
